Things have been getting insane lately. I honestly did not think they could get really THAT much busier but, life surprises you sometimes.
Most surprises (at least in my experience) turn out to be positive in the long run, however there were a couple this week that i wasn't too thrilled about. They mainly circulated around choosing a venue for the
Jangle Records upcoming
launch party. This was harder than i had ever anticipated and in the end the whole situation turned into quite a few venues falling through on me unfortunately.
On top of this scheduling had become a nightmare. This past while turned out a lot of meeting cancellations and a lot of time restrictions. Add a lil personal drama into the mix and you have got one tired folk musician on your hands.
Now the name of this post is
"Lucky" and although it dosn't sound like it from the first part i swear i must have
clovers in my pockets.
Finally after everything i found the most fabulous venue for the launch party in Oakville called the
Dunn Street Art Gallery. It sounds ridiculous but the floors are incredible! It is just an amazing space compromised of three levels and owned by the most wonderful ex ballerina who chatted with me about everything from
Leonard Cohen to
Deconstructed Sushi.
So there was my first streak of luck. After the venue booking i was ready for a rest but instead got a message from
Michael Howie of
Oakville Today who has asked me to work as a columnist! Needless to say i was so thrilled. Since i was a little kid i have had eclectic career tastes and wanted to be everything from a journalst to archeologist and i now i have been given the opportunity to do the latter of the two.
Theres lucky streak number two.
Then as the product of much planning and good fortune
Follow the Floodlights signed as the second artist to my record label
Jangle Records. Their music/info is now avaible on our site!
http://www.janglerecords.comThat was lucky streak number three.
Finally my last streak of luck came from
Michael Howie being too nice to me again by giving
Follow the Floodlights and myself a press releases in this weeks upcoming paper!
So its official i definately have
clovers in my pockets. Now if i wasn't spoiled enough i bought myself
love in the form of a beautiful little Orange Amp which sounds stunning and rich.
Now although i could feel a little guilty from having all this fortune bestowed upon me i figure its all to compensate from the melancholy that will come from the summer ending.
I will definatley miss the sunshine and warm nights but i would say we had a good run while it lasted :)
